Runs Entirely on You

What usually goes wrong after day three

The first two days of "point, don't tell" can feel like it isn't working at all, because your kids are basically testing one thing: are you eventually going to cave and just tell me the answer? 😂

A lot of moms quit right there. Usually around the third day, something starts to shift because the kids realize the answer really is on the wall, on the chart, or wherever you put it.

It is not coming from Mom.

But if you're still fielding the same questions a few days in, don't assume your kids just aren't getting it. Look at the system you gave them instead. Is the list somewhere they'd actually look? Are there more steps on it than they can hold in their head? Does "clean the kitchen" mean the same thing to them that it means to you?

Fix the part that still needs your interpretation, and the rest starts running without you.

Why this is bigger than the one routine

You just took one routine out of your head and gave it somewhere else to live. Now the whiteboard, chart, picture, whatever you chose, can carry some of what your voice was carrying before. But most moms who feel like "everything runs through me" aren't only carrying one routine that way, they're carrying the whole day that way.

The Bootcamp is where you start building the rest of the household so everything doesn't depend on your energy, your memory, and your voice to keep moving, on the days you have the energy and the days you don't.

If getting routines to run without you repeating yourself all day is the part you need more help with, hit reply and tell me.
